Spring is in the air - our garden is buzzing and the students are enjoying their swimming lessons. We hope to see everyone at the Colours and Flavours festival on May 26th. Do you already know what you are going to cook? ;)

Persuasive Picnic
Year 6 students are writing persuasive essays to argue for a sustainable life change, which they feel passionate about. We will share these writing pieces in Bila Hora. We will use the herbs from our beautiful garden to make lunch together and then go over to the park around 12:00 to share our writing. Please join us if you can!

One Community. One Language.
We are going to spend the rest of the year looking at how we can build stronger ties, more effective working relationships and be more successful by each committing to speaking English whenever there is someone present who doesn’t speak the language we were using. We need to be sure that everyone is included. More information coming!

Mia Kolaříková
This month we're pleased to recognise Mia's work on her Creativity, Activity and Service project. She has decided to get more involved in the school's garden project. Inspired by this, she presented a project proposal to build a meditation and social garden area at a retirement home. So far she has:
- has selected the retirement home
- taken photos of the ugly concrete area at the side of the building that she would like to develop into a restful garden area
- done some research into types of garden, structures and plants that would be suitable
- has identified a potential commercial sponsor
- has gathered together a team of four IB students who are willing to help her bring the project to life.
In this, Mia is leading the class in terms of her engagement with a full IB CAS project.
What's Up at ISB?
Picture Days - May 10th and 14th

We would like to inform you that there will be two photo days at ISB. On 10th of May pictures will be taken of year 2 up to year 9 and on the 14th of May High School and Kindergarten will follow. Pictures of individual classes will be taken by professional photographers. If possible, make sure that your child is at school on both days. If the weather allows, the photos will be taken outside.

ISB Garden Club

The ISB garden is in full swing for spring! Students in all years have contributed to plots and are growing a variety of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. The garden club is working hard to maintain the garden and meets every Tuesday from 3:15-4:00. It is an ISB community garden so any and all support from parents is much appreciated! Feel free to drop by and plant something, pull weeds, or churn the compost! Contact Ms. Chelsea at chelsea.mcgill@isob.cz if you have any questions.

Colours and Flavours of ISB 2018 - May 26th

Our Colours and Flavours festival has become a tasty tradition among the ISB community. This year there is even more to celebrate - ISB’s 10th birthday! We kindly ask you to join the celebration and share your favourite national dish with us. Other activities promoting your country / culture are also welcome! We will be competing for the best amateur dish and the most beautiful national outfit. Winners will fly with bmi national to Munich. See you all on Saturday, May 26th and don’t forget to take a picnic blanket with you. Awesome weather has been booked! :)
